Awesome sauce and a tutorial
So, word on the street is that my eldest child, Kaden, is coming home TOMORROW! What? That is awesome sauce. Even though he didn’t call me to tell me, I’m okay with it. He’s in college now and doesn’t have to inform his mom of his comings and goings anymore. I mean, I just birthed him. All 10 pounds of him. Really, I’m fine. I’m sure I would have gotten stretch marks from one of the other kids eventually. My sacrifice of my youth should not give me any right or entitlement to know when he’s coming home. I’m sure he meant to text me. All that matters now is that my son will soon be home for a month and I’m overjoyed.
You can feel the love.
Which brings me to the reason for this quick post. I’m taking a break from my favorite things to share an easy Christmas project…and, my overall feeling when all my chicks are under my roof.
Please don’t tell anyone that the stockings are NOT hung by the chimney with care. In fact, they are still in the sterilite containers in my dining room along with the nativity set and other various decorations. Instead of actually unpacking it all, I just made a quick faux wood JOY sign and called it a day.
I saw this faux wood paper floating around cyber-candyland and knew I needed to create something with it. Since the paper made it difficult to actually wear it, I was limited to a craft project. I actually bought the faux wood paper at my local Hobby Lobby. It was $8.99 (and I used the 40% off coupon), so it was…whatever 40% off of $8.99 is. NOTE-the roll of paper is 4ftX12ft and it IS LOCATED in the hobby department in Hobby Lobby, back where the model cars are located. I know, makes total sense.
These 18″ unfinished wood letters (from Hobby Lobby) were $12.99 a piece, but if you are patient, their unfinished wood is often on sale for 30% off. So, they would be…whatever 30% off of $12.99 is.
After you glue all your paper to your wood letters, you can add whatever embellishments you want. I love traditional Christmas colors, but my tree is blue, gold, and silver, so I went with those colors.
Please forgive the quality of photos. If I haven’t unpacked our stockings, I’m certainly not going to edit pictures. Use your imagination. Imaginations are so underutilized these days.
I’m using my imagination and pretending my phone is ringing and it’s Kaden calling to confirm when he’s coming home from college.
